Head of the Lagoon was started by a group of master rowers including Ron Hudson and Daryl Winter. It was named after the Monster from the Blue Lagoon movie, and was initially a one day regatta. HOTL has now grown to a two day regatta, hosting junior, collegiate, open, and master teams. This is a gently curving course through the Foster City Lagoon, which is carefully buoyed every year. It is free of currents and powerboats, making this regatta an interesting and competitive race. Here are the lineups and schedule for the event (air quality permitting): https://herenow.com/results/#/races/20578/heats Team Itinerary HOTL Friday 11/9/18 2:15pm - Meet at UCI Boathouse (600 Shellmaker Road, Newport Beach, CA, 92660) 2:30pm - Depart Newport Beach to Foster City (#1 30 minute rest stop) (#2 1 hour dinner stop "proctored exams") 10:30pm - Arrive at Hilton Garden Inn, San Mateo, 2000 Bridgepointe Circle, San Mateo, CA, 94404. 11:00pm - Lights out Saturday 11/10/18 6:00am Coaches / Coxswains depart for Foster City Lagoon 6:45am Athletes depart for Foster City Lagoon (Racing gear under cold weather gear. - sunglasses, hat) 7:00am Unload trailer & begin rigging 8+'s & oars to designated boats 7:30am Coaches / Coxswains meeting 8:20am 8+'s […]
